About Us

What is a Mission Discovery Short Term Mission Trip?

Open your eyes to a world waiting to be discovered—individuals and entire communities who seem almost forgotten. Yet, they are known and loved by the One who can use you to transcend language and cultural barriers, to bring hope and spiritual awakening to those who desperately need your help.  Since our beginning in 1991 over 45,000 students and adults have brought hope to situations of poverty.  Today that work continues stronger than ever!

Participants build homes for the poor, love on orphans, feed the hungry, clothe and educate school children.  They help at Mission Discovery medical clinics and empower churches to more effectively bring hope to their communities.  Mission Discovery trips target desperate communities.  We arrange food, lodging, and logistics so your team will be effective from day one. Each night we offer a worship service to provide your teams the opportunity to come together and reflect on what they have experienced during the day.  Each year Mission Discovery staff gather partners for support.  The gifts of donors and Mission Discovery's trip fees combine to serve people in need in 7 countries including the United States.  These passionate donors help make each trip cost less!  Together we can make a huge difference in the world!

Please consider discovering a new part of the world through a Mission Discovery trip.

What We Do

Mission Discovery mission trips are organized around five to ten day short-term mission outreaches. Each mission trip team will be involved in a vital construction project along with an outreach led by team members that communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ. Hundreds have decided to follow Christ each year through Mission Discovery outreaches such as Children's Bible School, christian medical missions, and door to door evangelism.

There are plenty of missions opportunities to choose from. Mission Discovery teams serve as:

LEARNERS - Our missionary teams come to discover what God is doing in the world and get involved. We come by invitation, not invasion. We come not to teach but to learn.

SERVANTS - Our missionary work teams come not to be served but to serve in the same way the Lord Jesus Christ came as a servant and friend.

STORY TELLERS - Everyone has a unique story to tell about his or her journey with God.  We believe that your story is important in helping others.

Our goal at Mission Discovery is to provide an atmosphere where missionaries are able to focus on serving the poor of the world. This means that we take care of the details, such as lodging, food, worship, building materials, etc. In this way, we believe that we provide an environment for growth and servanthood that is like no other whether you opt in as a short term missionary or long term missionary.

Our Beliefs

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  3. We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

  6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across racial, gender, and class differences.
